The College community proudly announces the Archbishop of Sydney Award for Student Excellence for 2026 is Normina Shumoel.

Established to recognise the outstanding contributions of students to their Catholic school communities, this prestigious honour acknowledges Normina’s exceptional commitment to living out her faith and building up the spiritual life of our College. As Faith Captain, Normina is an inspiring leader of liturgy and devotion.

Normina enriches the spiritual identity of our school by guiding student prayer, including the Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and the Lenten Stations of the Cross. Her leadership of the Youth Group fosters a prayerful, welcoming environment that encourages her peers to deepen their personal relationships with God. Beyond daily College life, Normina extends her steadfast service to her parish, actively preparing and guiding young people through their sacramental journeys while nurturing the faith of those around her.

Normina’s faith is equally evident in her compassionate outreach. As an active member of the Josephite Justice Network, she stands up as an advocate for the marginalised, embodying Saint Mary MacKillop’s enduring call to "never see a need without doing something about it."

We congratulate Normina on this well-deserved recognition and thank her for the inspiring witness of faith, leadership, and service she shares with our community every day.

Yesterday was R U OK? Day, but looking out for one another doesn't stop when the day ends 💛

At MMCC, we encourage every student to check in on a friend today—and any day. You don't need a formal event or the perfect words to start a conversation; a simple, genuine "How are you going?" can make a world of difference to someone who might be struggling.

Let's keep the momentum going and build a culture where everyone feels supported, seen, and heard every day of the year.
