Congratulations to the Mary MacKillop Catholic College Wakeley Class of 2022 on your outstanding HSC results! 

Our school once again placed in the top 150 schools in the state, coming in at 134th in The Sydney Morning Herald rankings. 

We recorded 62 Distinguished Achievers, two All Rounders and four Top Achievers.

We received a First in Course honour, with Suzi Coates placing first in Studies of Religion I, together with three students placing first in their subject in the Sydney Archdiocese. 

The college also recorded excellent science results, with Physics being 16% above state average, Chemistry 8% above state average, Biology 5.5% above state average. 

Gilda Pussich, Principal at Mary MacKillop, congratulated Year 12 on their outstanding efforts. 

“The Class of 2022 was the highest ranked school in the local area and they met the challenge I set for them which was to achieve a higher school rank than last year’s impressive cohort attained”, Ms Pussich said. 

Ms Pussich also thanked the teachers and staff members who guided the students throughout their journey. 

“We have a team of dedicated teachers who set high expectations, established effective structures and provided high support (including outside school hours) for learning,” she said. 

“There was a strong focus on literacy and numeracy, as well as sound leadership and the nurturing of new teachers in the MMCC THRIVE learning culture.”

System success 

Sydney Catholic Schools has achieved outstanding results in the 2022 HSC with 9 of its 33 schools ranked among the top 100 high schools in NSW.

A total of 17 schools ranked among the top 150 secondary schools, underlining Sydney Catholic Schools’ position as one of the top performing systems in Australia. 

 Sydney Catholic Schools recorded an impressive 2630 Distinguished Achievers, 66 Top Achievers and 58 All Rounders.

Here’s a recap of our 2022 HSC highlights:

  • Ranked 134th in the state (from 138th in 2021)
  • 62 Distinguished Achievers – lists the students who achieved a result in the highest band (Band 6 or Band E4) for one or more courses, not including results for courses studied external to their school
  • Two All Rounders – number of students scoring above 90 in at least 10 units
  • Four Top Achievers – student(s) who achieved one of the highest places in an HSC course or VET examination and also achieved a result in the highest band (Band 6 or Band E4)
  • Three students placed First in Course in the Sydney Archdiocese
  • Our College Dux, Emily Cao, achieved an ATAR of 98.90
