During Term 1 and 2, students from Patrician Brothers' College, Fairfield and Mary MacKillop Catholic College collaborated to mentor students from our feeder primary schools in preparation for the Solar Car Challenge Day, held on the 5th of August.

Throughout the term, mentors supported the younger students with designing and building their solar cars. On the day of the challenge, we were able to help the primary school students with their last minute repairs, assisting them with their posters, and running the races. Each team experienced both challenges and success when testing and racing their solar cars, but in the end, it came down to the best solar car to win the challenge. Congratulations to V2 from Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School Villawood who came out on top!

Thank you, to you to Miss Vo, Ms Hoang, Mr Algeri, and the STEM mentors from Patrician Brothers' College and our wonderful students for organising such a spectacular and memorable day for everyone.

Today, on Mary MacKillop's Feast Day, we remember and honour the life of this incredible woman.

This special day commemorates Mary MacKillop's enduring legacy as Australia's first saint and the founder of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart.

When Mary saw families living on the margins without access to education, she set up a school to teach children herself — regardless of their situation. She and the Sisters of St Joseph went wherever the need was greatest. And despite facing enormous challenges, they continued to walk with people every step of the way.

Like Mary, let’s be fierce in the face of adversity. Let’s be fair and act when we see injustice. Let’s give love to those we encounter each day. Together, let’s be Fierce for Fair!

She devoted her life to education and social justice.
