On Tuesday 1st of August our students attended the Solar Car Challenge held at Patrician Brothers’ College, Fairfield.
MMCC and Patrician Brothers’ students have been working in partnership with UNSW Engineering in a mentoring STEM program provided to the four local catholic primary schools, St Gertrude’s Catholic Primary School Smithfield, Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School Cabramatta, Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School Villawood and Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School Fairfield.
Throughout Term 2, our students have been mentoring and supporting primary school students as they make their own solar cars.
The Solar Car Challenge was the final day where primary school students battled it out to find the fastest solar car. Well done to St Gertrude’s students who placed first, second and third.
Our students were instrumental in the running of the day as they mentored and supported primary school students, organised the races and catered for everyone in attendance.
Dr Jacqueline Frost, acting Executive Director of Sydney Catholic Schools, Ms Pussich, Mr Wade, Patrician Brothers’ Principal, Michael Richards, UNSW Engineering and Mr Nick Bozic, STEM Coordinator at Patrician Brothers’ presented the winners with their hard earned trophies and medals.
Thank you to all our students and staff who participated on the day.
