Central to the religious life of the school is the person of Jesus Christ who came among us ‘as one who serves’ (Luke 22.27). Our Catholic school is committed to reaching out to help those in need, through charitable outreach initiatives. All outreach activities connect to the person of Jesus Christ and to the sacraments, especially the Eucharist. Drawing on the Catholic Social Teaching of the Church, we have a deep commitment to supporting a range of charitable organisations, families and individuals in need.

St Mary of the Cross MacKillop advocated that “we must teach more by example than by word”. This quote guides us in our desire to provide outreach and funds to those in need in the wider community. We believe in the dignity of the human person, respect for human life, preferential option for the poor, the principle of solidarity, human equality, the common good and stewardship.

Students support programs based on the principles of Catholic Social Teaching that include Vinnies Sandwich Making, St Vincent de Paul Winter and Christmas Appeals, and the Catholic Education Fund. Students also provide community service to local agencies including Rosary Village. Each of our six pastoral houses raise funds for six different Catholic charities and promote the mission and works of the respective charity.
